The Google Impact Challenge has launched in India in an effort to support innovators who are exploring new ways to solve the world’s most pressing problems. If you’re an Indian non-profit, tell us how you would use technology and innovative approaches to tackle problems in India and around the world. Four selected non-profits will each receive a Rs 3 crore  Global Impact Award and assistance from Google to help make their project a reality.

The last date to submit the application was 5th September 2013 – Final day to apply to the Google Impact Challenge.

What was the Challenge ?

It’s an opportunity for registered Indian non-profits to apply for a Rs 3 crore Global Impact Award by demonstrating how they will use technology to change the world.

What is the timeline and process for selecting the awardees?

5th September 2013 @ 11:59 p.m. IST – Online applications due. All applications received will be reviewed by a team of Googlers.

21st October 2013 – 10 finalists announced, and a video about each project is featured on the website for public voting. (Don’t worry, if your organisation is selected as a finalist, we’ll help you with the video.) Before any announcement is made, each finalist will be provided with Google’s standard grant agreement, and will be required to acknowledge that if chosen as an award recipient, they will be required to sign Google’s standard grant agreement, without any modifications, at the final event on 31st October 2013.

31st October 2013 – The 10 finalists pitch their project idea to a panel of judges, including Ram Shriram, Nikesh Arora, Anu Aga and Jayant Sinha. (If you’re a finalist, you’ll need to travel to Delhi. But don’t worry, we’ll pay for reasonable travel expenses.)

Four award recipients, including the organisation with the most public votes, will be announced at the end of the event.

Before any announcements are made, each award recipient will be required to sign Google’s standard grant agreement.
